THOUGHT ADJUSTERS

I. Origin and Nature of Thought Adjusters
They emanate from God Source Center First.
They are not created beings, but entities of fragmentations constituting the real presence of infinite God.
They are pure and unadulterated divinity, unconditional and undiluted parts of Deity. They are from God, they are from God
Adjusters are purely and eternally divine gifts. They are of God, they come from God and are like God.
In the final analysis, the God fragments must be the gift of the Absolute God to creatures whose destiny encompasses the possibility of attaining God as the Absolute.
II. NATURE AND PRESENCE OF ADJUSTERS
It is highly probable that the purity of an Adjuster’s divinity embraces the essence of the potential of all attributes of Deity which may be contained within that fragment of the absolute essence of the personal presence of the eternal and infinite Paradise Father. The real source of the Adjuster must be infinite.
Prior to fusion with the immortal Soul of an evolutionary being, Adjuster reality borders on the absolute. The Adjusters are not absolute in the universal sense, in the Deity sense (totalization of the real), but they are true absolutes within the limits of the potential of their fragmentary nature. They are restricted as to their universality but not as to their nature. They are limited in their grip on space, but absolute in the quality of the meanings of values and facts.
No Adjuster has ever been disloyal to God. The Adjusters are supreme and infallible in their celestial sphere of ministry to the creatures and functions of the Universe. Can you clearly conceive the true meaning of the indwelling presence of the Adjusters? Have you really measured the significance of being inhabited by a parcel of absolute and infinite Seity? A fragment of the Universal Father that merges with your finite mortal nature? When a mortal merges with a real fragment of the existential cause of the total cosmos, no limit can be assigned to the destiny of this unimaginable and unprecedented association.
In eternity the human will discover not only the infinity of objective Deity, but also the indefinite potential of the inner subjective fragment of that same God. The Adjuster will always continue to reveal the wonder of God to the human personality, and this heavenly revelation will never end, for the Adjuster comes from God and represents God to the human.
III. MENTAL QUALITY OF ADJUSTERS
Evolutionary mortals tend to regard mind as a cosmic mediation between spirit and matter, and it is indeed the primary ministry of mind as you can discern it. It is therefore very difficult for humans to perceive that the Thought Adjusters have a mind, for the Adjusters are fragmentations of God on an absolute level of reality which is not only pre-personal, but also predates any divergence between energy. and spirit. On a monistic level prior to the differentiation of energy and spirit, there can be no mediating function of mind, because there are no differences to arbitrate.
Since Adjusters can plan, work, and love, they must have powers of individuality commensurate with mind. As to the nature and purpose of their intercommunication, we can hardly reveal anything because we know nothing about it… However, we do know that Adjusters are somehow endowed with a mental quality, for otherwise could ever be customized
When a Thought Adjuster has fused with the immortal evolving morontia soul of the surviving human, the mind of the Adjuster cannot be identified as continuing to exist separate from creature mind only until such time as the ascending mortal attains the spiritual levels of universe progression.
When these sixth-stage spirits attain finaliter levels of ascending experience, they appear to transmute a mind factor representing the union of certain mortal and Adjuster mind phases which had previously functioned as a link between the phases. human and divine of these ascending personalities. The new thought probably acquires the quality of supremacy and then increases the spiritual endowment of evolutionary Deity – the Supreme Being.
IV. ADJUSTERS AS PURE SPIRITS
Thought Adjusters, as creatures encounter them in experience, reveal the presence of the guidance of a spiritual influence. The Adjuster is certainly a spirit, a pure spirit, but a spirit plus something.
The Adjuster is the possibility for the human to become eternal. The human is the Adjuster’s ability to personalize. Your individual Adjuster is working to spiritualize you in the spirit of eternalizing your temporal identity. The Adjusters are saturated with the magnificent love of the Father of spirits, a love that bestows itself. They truly and divinely love you; they are prisoners of the spiritual hope confined in the minds of humans. They yearn for your mind to attain divinity so that their loneliness will end and they will be delivered with you from the limitations of material endowment and the defrocking of time.
The path to Paradise is one of spiritual attainment, and the nature of the Adjust will faithfully reveal to you the spiritual nature of the Universal Father. Beyond the Paradise ascension and in the postfinaliter stages of the eternal career, it is possible for the Adjuster to contact his once human partner for other than spiritual ministry; but the Paradise ascent and the finaliter career do represent the association between the God-knowing ascender, who spiritualizes himself, and the Adjuster, whose spiritual ministry reveals God.
We know that Thought Adjusters are spirits, pure spirits, probably absolute spirits. But the Adjuster must be something more than an exclusive spiritual reality. Pure energy factors are also present in him in addition to his supposed mental quality – If one is willing to remember that God is the source of pure energy and pure spirit, it will not be so difficult to perceive that its fragments are energy and spirit. It is the fact that the Adjusters traverse space on the instantaneous and universal gravity circuits of the Isle of Paradise.
It is surely surprising that the Mystery Monitors should be so associated with the material circuits of the universe, but it is a fact that throughout the grand universe they flash like lightning over the circuits of gravity. material. It is perfectly possible that they could even penetrate the instantaneous and universal gravity outer space levels of the Isle of Paradise.
However, although the Adjusters use the circuitry of material gravity, they are not subject to it as is the material creation. The Adjusters are fragments of the ancestor of gravity, not consequences of gravity, they split off on a level of universe existence hypothetically prior to the appearance of gravity.
Adjusters enjoy no relaxation from the time of their bestowal until the day they are free to depart for Divinington after the natural death of their human subject. And those whose subjects do not pass through the gates of natural death do not even benefit from this temporary respite. Adjusters need not absorb energy, they are energy, energy of the highest and most divine order.
V. ADJUSTERS AND HUMAN PERSONALITY
The higher forms of intelligent intercommunication among human beings are greatly aided by the indwelling Adjusters. Animals do have feelings of sympathy, but do not communicate concepts to each other; they can express emotions, but not ideas and ideals. Neither before receiving Thought Adjusters do men of animal origin have intellectual intercourse of a higher type, nor spiritual fellowship with their companions. However, when evolutionary creatures are developing their powers of speech, they are well on their way to receiving Adjusters.
Animals do communicate with each other in a crude way, but there is little or no personality in this primitive contact. The Adjusters are not personality, but prepersonal beings. However, they come from the source of personality, and their presence enhances the quality of the manifestations of human personality.
The indwelling Adjusters have co-operated to a great extent with other spiritual influences in transforming and humanizing the descendants of the primitive humans of ancient times. If the mind-dwelling Adjusters of Urantia inhabitants were to be removed, the world would slowly revert to many of the mores and practices of primitive man of old. Divine Monitors are one of the true potentials of progressive civilization.
However, it is also true that from him who lacks the qualities of survival, even the experienced Adjuster which he now has will be taken away; while to one who has prospects of survival, even the Adjuster will be given to prior experience of an indolent deserter.
In a sense, the Adjusters may entertain some degree of cross-fertilization on a planetary level in the realms of truth, beauty, and goodness, but they are seldom given the opportunity to inhabit a second time on the same planet.
VI. MATERIAL HANDICAPS AT THE STAY OF ADJUSTERS
The supreme and self-governing Adjusters are often able to bring spiritually important factors to the human mind when it lets itself flow freely into the unblocked but controlled channels of the creative imagination. At these times, and sometimes during sleep, the Adjuster can arrest the currents of mind, blocking their course, and thus diverting the procession of ideas. All of this is meant to effect profound spiritual transformations in the higher folds of super-consciousness. The forces and energies of the mind are thus more fully attuned to the emphasis of the contact tones on the spiritual level of the present and the future.
It is sometimes possible to have your mind illumined, to hear the divine voice continually speaking within you, and to become partially aware of the wisdom, truth, goodness and beauty of the potential personality that constantly dwells within you. .
But your unstable and often changing mental attitudes frequently have the effect of thwarting the plans of the Adjusters and interrupting their work. It is not only the innate nature of the human races that interferes with the operations of the Adjusters. Your own preconceived opinions, fixed ideas and outdated prejudices greatly retard their ministry. Because of these handicaps, their unfinished creations are often the only ones to emerge into consciousness; the confusion of concepts is then inevitable. Therefore, in the analysis of mental situations, one finds security only in recognizing each thought and each experience exactly for what it really and fundamentally is, without taking the slightest account of what it could have be.
The great problem of life is to add the ancestral tendencies of life to the demands of the spiritual impulses brought about by the divine presence of the Mystery Monitor. In universe and superuniverse careers, no human can serve two masters at once, but in the life you now live on Urantia, every human is obligated to do so. He must become expert in the art of practicing continuous and temporal human compromise, while spiritually obeying only one master. This is why so many stumble and fail, tiring and succumbing under the strain of evolutionary struggle.
The inherited inheritance of cerebral faculties and that of electrochemical overcontrol both conspire to delimit an Adjuster’s sphere of activity, but no inherited handicap ever prevents (in normal thinkers) eventual spiritual attainment. Heredity can intervene in the speed of conquest of personality, but it does not prevent the final consummation of the ascending adventure. If you will co-operate with your Adjuster, sooner or later he will develop the immortal morontia soul. After fusion with this soul, the “divine bestowal” will introduce the new creature to the sovereign Master Son of the local universe and ultimately to the Adjuster Father on Paradise.
VII. THE PERSISTENCE OF TRUE VALUES
Adjusters never fail. Nothing worth surviving is ever lost. Any significant value in a will creature is certain to survive, regardless of the survival or non-survival of the personality which discovered that significance or estimated that value. True, a mortal creature may reject survival, but the experience of its life is not wasted. The eternal Adjuster takes to another world the valuable characteristics of this seemingly failed life. There it confers those surviving meanings and values to a higher tapping mind, to a survivable mind. No worthwhile experience has ever been in vain; no true meaning, no real value ever perishes.
With respect to fusion candidates, if a Mystery Monitor is deserted by his mortal partner, if that human partner refuses to pursue the ascending career, then at the time he is freed by natural death (or earlier). , the Adjuster takes away all that has survival value and has evolved in the mind of the non-surviving creature. If an Adjuster repeatedly fails to blend with a personality because his successive human subjects have not survived, and if that Monitor is subsequently personalized, all experience gained by indwelling and mastering the mind of all these matters becomes the full possession of this newly Personalized Adjuster; he will enjoy this endowment and use it throughout all future ages. A Personalized Adjuster of this order is a composite assemblage of all the surviving traits of all the creatures that were its hosts.
All permanent values confined to Adjusters are assured of eternal survival. In some cases the Monitors hold these possessions for future bestowal upon a human mind which they will inhabit. In other cases, the Monitors, once personalized, store these preserved and surviving realities for later use in the service of the Architects of the Master Universe.
B – POSITION OF THE ADJUSTERS IN RELATION TO INDIVIDUAL MORTALALS
The gift of freedom to imperfect beings inevitably involves tragedies, and it is in the nature of perfect ancestral Deity to universally and lovingly share these sufferings with brotherly love.
So far as I am acquainted with the affairs of a universe, I regard the love and devotion of a Thought Adjuster as the most truly divine affection in all creation. The Love of the Sons in their ministry to the races is magnificent, but the devotion of an Adjuster to an individual is of touching sublimity, divinely like that of the Father. The Paradise Father seems to have reserved this form of personal contact with his individual creatures as the exclusive prerogative of the Creator. And in all the universe of universes there is nothing quite comparable to the wondrous ministry of those impersonal entities who so enchantingly inhabit the children of the evolutionary planets.
1. HABITATION OF THE HUMAN MIND
The Adjusters should not be imagined as living in the material brains of human beings. They are not organic elements of the physical creatures of the realms. Thought Adjusters are best viewed as indwelling the mortal mind of man, rather than confined to any definite physical organ. Indirectly and in being recognized, the Adjuster constantly communicates with his human subject, especially during those sublime experiences when the mind comes into superconscious adoring contact with the Spirit.
I wish it were possible for me to help evolving mortals better understand and appreciate more fully the splendid and generous work of the Adjusters who live within them and who display such faithful devotion to the task of promoting spiritual well-being. humans. The Monitors provide effective support to the higher phases of the human mind. They handle wisely and experience the spiritual potential and human intellect. These heavenly helpers are dedicated to the stupendous task of guiding you safely, inward and upward, to the heavenly haven of bliss.
These tireless workers are dedicated to the future personification of the triumph of divine truth in your eternal life. They are the watchful workers who steer the God-conscious human mind away from bogged down in evil, while skillfully guiding the evolving human soul to the divine havens of hard perfection on the eternal and distant shores. The Adjusters are loving conductors, your sure and certain guides through the dark and hazardous mazes of your brief earthly career. They are the patient educators who constantly encourage their subjects to advance along the paths of progressive perfection. They are the careful preservers of the sublime values of creature character. I wish you could love them more, cooperate with them more widely, and cherish them with more affection.
Although these divine dwellers are primarily concerned with your spiritual preparation for the next stage of endless existence, they are also deeply interested in your temporal well-being and your actual accomplishments on earth. They are delighted to contribute to your health, your happiness and your true prosperity. They are by no means indifferent to your success in all matters of planetary progress which do not conflict with your future life of eternal progress.
The Adjusters are interested and concerned with your daily acts and the manifold details of your life, exactly insofar as these acts and details are influential in determining your significant temporal choices and vital spiritual decisions, and are therefore , factors in the solution of the problem of the survival of your soul and your own eternal. The Adjuster is passive in regard to your purely temporal welfare, but divinely active in all matters touching your eternal future.
The Adjuster remains with you in all disasters and during all illnesses which do not entirely destroy mental functions. Is it not cruel to knowingly defile or otherwise deliberately pollute the physical body which is to serve as the earthly tabernacle of this wondrous gift of God? All physical poisons greatly retard the efforts of the Adjusters to exalt the material mind, and all mind poisons, on the other hand, such as fear, anger, envy, jealousy, suspicion and also with the spiritual progress of the evolving soul.
You will pass through6 today the period when your Adjuster is wooing you. It suffices that you prove yourself worthy of the confidence placed in you by the divine spirit, which seeks your mind and your soul for an eternal union, for this morontia unity, this celestial harmony, this coordination cosmic harmony, this divine attunement, this celestial fusion, this perpetual blending of identity, this unity of existence, which is so perfect and definitive that even the most experienced personalities can never dissociate or recognize, as separate identities, the two partners fused – the mortal human and the divine Adjuster.
2. ADJUSTERS AND HUMAN WILL
When Thought Adjusters indwell the human mind, they bring with them the model careers, the ideal lives, as determined and preordained by themselves and the Personalized Adjusters of Divinington, and confirmed by the Urantia Personalized Adjuster. They therefore begin to work with a definite and predetermined plan for the intellectual and spiritual development of their human subject, but no human being is obligated to accept this plan. You are all predestinated subjects, but it is not ordained that you must accept this divine predestination. You are fully free to reject any or all of the Thought Adjuster program. Their mission is to effect the mental shifts and spiritual adjustments that you willingly and intelligently allow; they thus seek to gain more influence on the orientation of your personality. But under no circumstances do the Divine Monitors take advantage of you or arbitrarily influence your choices and decisions. The Adjusters respect the sovereignty of your personality; they always submit to your will.
They are persistent, resourceful, and perfect in their methods of work, but never do violence to the volitional individuality of their hosts. No human will ever be spiritualized against his will by a divine Monitor; survival is a gift from God to be desired by the creatures of time. In the final analysis, whatever your Adjuster has succeeded in doing for you, the record will show that the transformation was accomplished with your cooperative consent. You will willingly have an Adjuster partner to achieve each step of the stupendous transformation of the ascension career.
110:2.3 (1205.1) The Adjuster does not seek to control your thought as such, but rather to spiritualize it, to give it an eternal character. Neither angels nor Adjusters are directly concerned with influencing human thought; it is exclusively the prerogative of your personality. Adjusters are dedicated to improving, modifying, adjusting and co-ordinating your thought patterns. However, they work more specifically and specifically to build a spiritual counterpart to your career, a morontia transcription of your true self in progress, with a view to its survival.
110:2.4 (1205.2) The Adjusters operate on the higher levels of human mind, ever seeking to create morontia replicas of every concept of mortal intellect. There are thus two realities which are centered on the circuits of the human mind and which impinge on these circuits: one is a mortal self evolved from the original planes of the Life Carriers, the other is an immortal entity coming from the high spheres of Divinington, an inner gift from God. But the mortal self is also a personal self; it has personality.
110:2.5 (1205.3) As a personal creature you have mind and will. As a prepersonal creature the Adjuster has a premind and a prewill. If you conform so completely to the mind of the Adjuster that your views are perfectly attuned, then your mind and his become one, and yours is strengthened by that of the Adjuster. Then, if your will directs and carries out the decisions of this new and conjugated mind, the prepersonal will of the Adjuster attains, through your decision, personality expression, and so far as this particular project is concerned, you and the ‘Adjuster become one. Your mind has attuned to divinity, and the will of the Adjuster has achieved personality expression.
110:2.6 (1205.4) Insofar as this identity is realized, you mentally approach the morontia order of existence. The term morontia mind means substance and sum of one mind of a material nature and another of a spiritual nature in cooperation. Morontia intellect, therefore, implies a twofold mind in the local universe dominated by one will. In mortals it is a will of human origin which becomes divine when man identifies his human mind with the mind quality of God.
3. Cooperation with the Adjuster
110:3.1 (1205.5) The Adjusters are playing the sacred and magnificent game of the ages; they are engaged in one of time’s supreme adventures in space. How happy they are when your cooperation enables them to assist you in your brief temporal struggles as they continue to pursue their greater tasks of eternity! But when your Adjuster tries to communicate with you, his message usually gets lost in the material flux of the energy currents of the human mind; only occasionally do you hear an echo, a faint and distant echo of the divine voice.
110:3.2 (1205.6) Your Adjuster undertakes to pilot you through earth life and to complete your survival. Its success does not depend so much on the theories of your beliefs as on your decisions, your determinations and the firmness of your faith. All of these movements of personality growth become powerful influences contributing to your advancement, because they help you to co-operate with the Adjuster and to cease resisting it. In their earthly endeavors the Thought Adjusters succeed or seem to fail just in proportion as mortals succeed or fail in co-operating with the plan for lifting them on the ascending path to perfection. The secret of survival is shrouded in the supreme human desire to be like God, and the corresponding willingness to do and be whatever is essential to ultimately satisfying that overriding desire.
110:3.3 (1206.1) When we speak of Adjuster success or failure, we speak from the standpoint of human survival. The Adjusters never fail; they are of divine essence and always emerge triumphant from each of their undertakings.
110:3.4 (1206.2) I am bound to find that many of you spend so much time and mental effort on the insignificant things of life, while you almost entirely neglect the more essential realities that matter. eternal, precisely those accomplishments which concern the establishment of a more harmonious working arrangement between you and your Adjuster. The great purpose of human existence is to attune to the divinity of the indwelling Adjuster. The great achievement of mortal life is to come to truly and intelligently devote yourself to the eternal purposes of the divine spirit which waits and works in your mind. But a dedicated and determined effort to fulfill eternal destiny is entirely compatible with joy and joy in life, and with an honorable and successful earthly career. Cooperation with the Thought Adjuster does not involve torturing oneself, pretending to be pious, or humiliating oneself in a hypocritical and ostentatious way. The ideal life is to serve with love, rather than to lead a life of fearful apprehension.
110:3.5 (1206.3) To be bewildered, perplexed, and even at times discouraged and torn, does not necessarily mean resistance to the guidance of the indwelling Adjuster. These attitudes sometimes denote a lack of active co-operation with the Divine Monitor and may therefore retard spiritual progress somewhat, but, for the God-knowing soul, such intellectual emotional difficulties do not interfere in the least with the certainty of survive. Ignorance alone can never prevent survival, nor can confounding doubts or fearful uncertainty. Only conscious resistance to Adjuster guidance can prevent the survival of the evolving immortal soul.
110:3.6 (1206.4) Cooperation with your Adjusters must not be regarded as a particularly conscious process, for it is not. It is your motives and your decisions, your faithful determinations and your supreme desires, which constitute real and effective cooperation. You can consciously increase harmony with the Adjuster:
110:3.7 (1206.5) 1. By choosing to respond to the call of divine guidance, sincerely basing your human life on your highest consciousness of truth, beauty, and goodness, and then coordinating these qualities of divinity through wisdom, worship, faith and love.
110:3.8 (1206.6) 2. By loving God and desiring to be like him—by sincere recognition of divine fatherhood and loving worship of the heavenly Parent.
110:3.9 (1206.7) 3. By loving men and earnestly desiring to serve them—by heartfelt recognition of human brotherhood coupled with wise and intelligent affection for each of your fellow mortals.
110:3.10 (1206.8) 4. Joyfully accepting cosmic citizenship—honestly acknowledging your progressive obligations to the Supreme Being, realizing the interdependence between evolutionary man and evolving Deity. It is the birth of cosmic morality and the awakening of the fulfillment of universal duty.
4. Adjuster work in the mind
110:4.1 (1207.1) Adjusters are able to receive the continuous stream of cosmic intelligence arriving through the master circuits of time and space. They have full contact with the spiritual intelligence and energy of the universes. These mighty indwellers, however, are unable to impart many of these treasures of wisdom and truth to the minds of their mortal subjects, owing to lack of common nature and lack of sense recognition.
110:4.2 (1207.2) The Thought Adjuster is engaged in a constant effort to spiritualize your mind so as to evolve your morontia soul, but you yourself remain almost oblivious to this inner ministry. You are quite incapable of distinguishing the fruits of your own material intellect from those of the joint activities of your soul and your Adjuster.
110:4.3 (1207.3) Certain abrupt presentations of thoughts, certain conclusions, and certain other mental images are sometimes the direct or indirect work of the Adjuster; but much more often they represent the sudden emergence into consciousness of ideas which had grouped themselves on subconscious mental levels, or else of natural and banal occurrences of normal and ordinary psychic function, inherent in the evolving animal mind circuits. (In contrast to these subconscious emanations, Adjuster revelations appear in the realms of superconsciousness.)
110:4.4 (1207.4) Commit to Adjuster custody all matters of mind beyond the ordinary level of consciousness. In due time, if not in this world, at least in the mansion worlds, they will give you a full account of their stewardship and eventually bring to light the meanings and values which you have entrusted to their custody and care. If you survive, they will resurrect every valuable treasure of your mortal mind.
110:4.5 (1207.5) There is an immense chasm between the human and the divine, between man and God. The Urantia races are so largely controlled by electrical and chemical processes, their ordinary behavior is so animal-like, their habitual reactions are so emotional that it becomes exceedingly difficult for the Monitors to guide and direct them. You are so devoid of courage in decision and dedication in cooperation that your inner Adjusters find it almost impossible to communicate directly with the human mind. Even when they succeed in bringing a glimmer of new truth to the evolving human soul, this spiritual revelation often so blinds the creature as to bring about a fit of fanaticism or some other intellectual upheaval with disastrous results. Many new religions and strange “ism” cults have been born out of abortive, imperfect, misunderstood, and distorted Thought Adjuster communications.
110:4.6 (1207.6) The Jerusem records show that over many millennia each generation has included fewer and fewer beings capable of operating safely with self-governing Adjusters. This alarming picture has led the figures overseeing Satania to regard with favor the

Your own passions, impulses, and other innate tendencies translate into the chart and substitute their unspoken desires for the divine messages which the Monitors strive to introduce into the psychic records during unconscious sleep.

The Adjusters do work during sleep, but your ordinary dream experiences are purely physiological and psychological phenomena. Likewise, it is risky to attempt to discriminate between the registering of Adjuster concepts and the more or less continuous reception of the commands of mortal consciousness. These are issues that must be resolved through individual discernment and personal decisions.
